Regulating Labor Relations in Saudi Arabia: Implementing Article 73 for Justice and Transparency

Article 73 of the Saudi Labor Law is one of the regulations aimed at regulating the relationship between employers and employees, and specifying the procedures to be followed in case of violations or breaches by either party. This article specifies the fines that can be imposed on the employee, and outlines the procedures that must be taken to apply these fines correctly and legally.

First and foremost, the employer must document the fines imposed on the employee in a special register, where the employee's name, wage amount, fine amount, reason for imposition, and date are recorded. This procedure ensures transparency in the process and facilitates tracking of fines imposed on employees.

Secondly, the law stipulates that fines cannot be imposed without prior approval, and the imposition of these fines must be for the benefit of the establishment's workers. In the absence of a labor committee in the establishment, fines are imposed with the approval of the ministry, emphasizing the importance of considering the interests of workers at all times and avoiding arbitrary actions.

Therefore, it is evident from Article 73 of the Saudi Labor Law the importance of regulating the relationship between employers and employees and organizing it in a sound and legal manner. It also highlights the necessity of taking the necessary measures to impose fines transparently and fairly, while considering the interests of workers in all circumstances.
