Workers' Rights in Saudi Arabia: Objecting to Penalties and Transparency in the Workplace

Within the framework of the Saudi labor system, Article 72 stipulates the worker's right to be informed of the decision to impose penalties upon them in an official and written manner. In the event that the worker does not receive such decisions, or in cases of their absence, the notification is sent to them through registered mail to the address provided in their personal file.

It is worth noting that the worker has the right to object to the decision that includes the imposition of penalties upon them, and this objection must be made within a period not exceeding fifteen days, excluding official holidays, from the date of being notified of the final decision imposing the penalty. The objection is submitted to the Labor Dispute Settlement Authority, which must issue its decision within thirty days from the date of registering the objection.

This text represents important labor provisions that safeguard workers' rights in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The system strives to achieve balance and justice between the rights of workers and the requirements of employers. By affirming the worker's right to know the decision taken against them and to object to it, the principle of justice and transparency in the workplace is reinforced, contributing to achieving stability and balance in the labor market.

The activation and adherence to this article reflect a serious commitment by labor authorities in Saudi Arabia to guarantee the rights of workers and provide a conducive and fair working environment for all. Consequently, the Saudi labor system adopts the principle of protecting workers' rights and providing legal avenues to resolve labor disputes in ways that ensure justice and equality between the parties involved.
