Dental professions localization: A step towards enhancing the local economy and providing job opportunities

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has announced a new initiative aimed at localizing dental professions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This move aims to increase citizen participation in the job market and provide stimulating and productive job opportunities. The decision to localize these professions by 35% starting from March 10, 2024, is part of governmental efforts to promote localization in various vital sectors and preemptively enhance national capacities in the field of dentistry.

Under this decision, localization ratios will be applied to private sector establishments employing three or more workers in the field of dentistry. The Ministry of Health pledges to closely supervise and monitor the implementation of this decision to elevate national participation in this vital field. It is expected that the private sector will benefit from a range of incentives and supportive programs provided by the government through the Human Resources Development and Social Development system. These incentives include support for recruitment processes, finding suitable national talents, providing support for necessary training and qualification processes, as well as supporting employment and job continuity.

This step comes within the framework of national efforts to enhance localization in various economic sectors and promote the role of citizens in the job market. It is expected that the implementation of this decision will contribute to achieving a greater balance in the job market and providing sustainable job opportunities for Saudi youth.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development emphasizes the necessity of adhering to the provisions of the decision and warns against violations, affirming the application of legal penalties against violators. The Ministry provides a procedural guide detailing the implementation of localization and the required ratios on its website, aiming to guide and raise awareness among establishments about the importance of compliance with this decision and ensuring its efficient and effective implementation.

Through this step, the Saudi government reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the role of citizens in the job market and providing a work environment that encourages innovation and sustainability, within the framework of Vision 2030 and its efforts to achieve sustainable development and enhance its position in the global economic arena.
