The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, has announced a decision to localize engineering professions in the private sector by 25%, effective from July 21, 2024. The new localization ratios will be applied to private sector facilities with at least 5 workers in engineering professions. This decision is part of the ministries' efforts to provide more stimulating and productive employment opportunities for citizens across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing emphasized its commitment to monitoring and implementing this decision, which enhances participation in the labor market. "Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing" will oversee the implementation in line with the requirements of the job market and the specialization of engineering professions.
The Ministry also affirmed that private sector facilities will benefit from incentives and support programs offered by the Human Resources and Social Development system. These include support for the recruitment and search for suitable workers, support for necessary training and qualification, and support for the recruitment process and job continuity. Additionally, there is a priority to benefit from all available localization support programs through the Human Resources Development Fund.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development issued an informative guide detailing the localization, professions, and required ratios on its website. It emphasized the necessity for establishments to adhere to and implement the provisions to avoid legal penalties that will be imposed on violators.
