The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development Launches Domestic Worker Insurance Service

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues its efforts to improve working conditions and protect rights in the private sector through the introduction of new initiatives and services aimed at enhancing transparency and security in the labor market. Among these notable initiatives is the ministry's launch of the "Domestic Worker Contract Insurance" service, signaling the kingdom's commitment to improving working conditions and safeguarding the rights of all parties involved.

Scheduled to be implemented starting February 1, 2024, this service targets newly arriving domestic workers for the first time employer. Through the Musaned platform, this step is part of broader efforts to regulate domestic work and ensure that workers receive their rights in full. Contract insurance will provide an additional layer of security for both parties, ensuring stability in the employment relationship for the employer and protection for the worker in cases such as injury, disability, or other potential risks.

It is important to emphasize that this move is not just an administrative improvement but is part of a comprehensive vision seeking to achieve balance and justice in the labor market. By implementing such services, the kingdom reflects its commitment to international labor standards and improving the quality of life for workers within its borders. This step is seen as part of larger efforts to modernize the economy and promote social inclusion and sustainable development.

With this initiative, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains on the right track towards achieving the goals of Vision 2030 in improving the working environment, ensuring the rights of domestic workers, and enhancing the standard of living and well-being for all segments of society.
