Article Seven of the Saudi Labor Law represents a basic rule that specifies the categories that are subject to special exceptions regarding the application of the provisions of the law. This legislative framework aims to provide the necessary flexibility for some working groups, taking into account the special circumstances that may be included in different areas of work.
Excluded from the application of the provisions of this system are:
1 - Members of the employer’s family, namely his spouse, ascendants, and descendants who work in the establishment, which does not include anyone else.
2 - Domestic servants and the like.
3 - Sea workers who work on ships of less than five hundred tons.
4 - Agricultural workers other than the categories stipulated in Article Five of this law.
5 - Non-Saudi workers coming to perform a specific task for a period not exceeding two months.
6 - Players and coaches of sports clubs and federations.
The Ministry, in coordination with the competent authorities, develops a special regulation for domestic workers and the like that governs their relationship with their employees, defines the rights and duties of each party, and submits it to the Council of Ministers.
