The Saudi government’s support and subsidies in the budget for the fiscal year 2023 are an important milestone in the journey of strengthening and developing the social support and care system. This comes in the context of activating the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which seeks to achieve sustainable development and improve the standard of living for citizens, with a special focus on people with disabilities. Support in this context takes on special importance, especially since it coincides with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Various services to enhance and empower people with disabilities

The Ministry provides many services to people with disabilities, including financial support. The number of those eligible for financial support until 2023 has reached 419,750, and financial support contributes to providing a decent life for people with disabilities and rehabilitating them.


The Ministry also provides a disability classification and evaluation service, which enables the beneficiary to submit a request to update their disability data and benefit from the services provided by the Ministry. In addition, the Ministry provides a disability classification service for university students with disabilities and also organizes several cultural and sporting events for them.

The Ministry also works on the vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities - physical, sensory, or mental - in professions appropriate to their remaining abilities after disability and disability, and works to employ them, to achieve humanitarian, social, and economic goals, and transform them into productive individuals capable of interacting and adapting in society in a sound social and psychological manner. Launching the social rehabilitation and guidance platform

As part of its efforts to facilitate services for people with disabilities in the Kingdom, the Ministry launched the Rehabilitation and Social Guidance Platform to meet the needs of people with disabilities and rehabilitation centers at the same time. Rehabilitation centers affiliated with the Ministry:

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development supervises many centers that provide services to people with disabilities according to the degree of their disability, which are as follows:


1-Vocational rehabilitation centres:

It specializes in the continuous follow-up of procedures related to the education and vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities for professions appropriate to their remaining abilities after disability and disability, and working to employ them and transform them into productive individuals that help them psychologically adapt and enable them to participate and achieve self-realization in their family and social surroundings. This is done by following up on their training whether within the centers or outside it.

Categories included in vocational rehabilitation centers include:

-The category of people with physical disabilities, such as those with amputations in the upper or lower limbs, paralyzed people, and heart patients.

-The deaf category, the mute category, or both, and the hearing-impaired category.

-Blind and visually impaired category.

-Tuberculosis convalescents category.

-The category of people with mental disabilities, which includes minor mental disabilities and improving cases of people with mental illnesses.

2-Day care centers:

To find alternatives to institutional care, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has created daycare centers that operate during daylight hours in the morning, to ease the burden on some families of people with disabilities who are unable to provide appropriate care for their children during this time, or workers. Female workers who cannot provide care for their children during official working hours, as these centers are concerned with providing various services and programs for severely disabled cases during specific periods of the day, which include social, psychological, health, recreational, and training programs, in addition to family counseling and education programs, according to the needs of each case, According to thoughtful individual plans.

Day care centers and departments provide appropriate care and rehabilitation programs for persons with disabilities during daylight hours, including physical and occupational therapy and training in various life skills, in addition to providing intensive family education and counseling programs for families of persons with disabilities, among others.

The number of non-governmental centers affiliated with (the private sector, civil committees in social service and development centers, and charitable organizations) is (202) centers distributed across various regions of the Kingdom.

The Ministry also supervises many charitable societies specialized in supporting, training, and rehabilitating persons with disabilities, the number of which has reached 76 to date.
