Efforts of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development to Enhance the Skills of Expatriate Workers

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development continues its diligent efforts to enhance the skill levels of expatriate workers, aiming to organize the labor market and ensure the quality of jobs and services provided. In this context, the ministry has completed the first phase of the "Professional Verification" service under the "Professional Accreditation" program, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, covering 128 countries through a unified electronic platform supervised by the ministry.

The Importance of the "Professional Verification" Service

This service is implemented in accordance with Cabinet Decision No. 195, and aims to ensure that expatriate workers possess reliable academic qualifications, practical experiences, and the skills required by the Saudi labor market before entering the Kingdom. The service primarily focuses on high-skill occupations and verifies the alignment of the worker’s academic qualifications with the educational level and field according to approved standards such as the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations and the Saudi Standard Classification of Educational Levels and Specialties.

Procedures and Implementation

The "Professional Verification" service is fully automated, ensuring simplified and expedited procedures through a unified platform. The ministry continues to work on completing the implementation phases to cover 160 countries worldwide, including all professions, such as engineering and health professions, in coordination with relevant government agencies.

Benefits and Aspirations

The "Professional Verification" service directly contributes to preventing the influx of unqualified expatriate labor into the Saudi labor market, thereby enhancing the quality of qualification and skill data for expatriate workers. Additionally, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development seeks through this service to regulate the labor market, improve the quality of jobs and services provided, and boost productivity levels.

Conclusion

These efforts underscore the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development’s commitment to developing the Saudi labor market and ensuring an ideal and safe work environment for expatriate workers. By improving skill levels and ensuring worker competence, the ministry looks forward to a brighter future for the Saudi labor market, contributing to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030.
