Enhancing the labor system: Worker duties to ensure a safe working environment in Saudi Arabia

Within the framework of the employer-employee relationship, Article 65 of the Saudi Labor System stipulates a set of rights and duties that the worker must adhere to. These rights and duties aim to enhance the labor system and ensure justice and stability in the work environment.


Firstly, the system states that the worker must carry out assigned tasks according to professional standards and employer instructions, provided these instructions do not conflict with the contract, regulations, or public ethics, and that their execution is free from any safety risks. Additionally, the worker must take care of machinery, tools, and materials under their control, returning them after use, and adhering to proper behavior and ethics at the workplace.


Secondly, the worker must provide assistance in cases of disasters or hazards threatening the safety of the workplace or its employees, without precondition for extra compensation. Furthermore, the worker must undergo medical examinations required by the employer to ensure they are not afflicted with occupational diseases.


Thirdly, the worker must maintain the confidentiality of trade and technical secrets of the produced materials or those involved in their production, refraining from disclosing them in a manner detrimental to the employer's interests. The worker must respect professional confidentiality and refrain from disclosing any trade or technical information learned during employment.


In conclusion, the Saudi labor system holds responsibilities and duties towards the worker aimed at protecting their rights and ensuring a suitable and safe work environment. It is imperative for the worker to adhere to these duties and work towards their realization with seriousness and responsibility to ensure stability and development in the Saudi labor market.
